News Playwright Alan Bennett's Writings Compiled in New Volume A wide array of the writings of English playwright-author-humorist Alan Bennett have been brought together in a new volume published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux called "Untold Stories."

Bennett is the author of History Boys, a hit London play that will journey to Broadway this coming spring. The writer offers his musings on the success of that play in the new book, as well as his thoughts on his earlier play The Lady in the Van and The Royal National Theatre (where History Boys premiered). Also included are selections from his diary, beginning in 1996 and ending in 2004, and memories of such artists as his Beyond the Fringe comrades Peter Cook and Dudley Moore.

The book runs 627 pages long and is priced at $27. It will be released in April 2006.
