The award will be presented to Lodato at the Festival's spring benefit in New York City on April 12. The reading will take place in Williamstown this summer on a date yet to be announced. Motherhouse is about an African-American family whose dreams are ruined by the low-income neighborhood that shapes their lives. The play was developed at the 2002 Eugene O'Neill Playwrights Conference and was also given a reading at the Manhattan Theatre Club. MTC submitted the play for consideration of the Weissberger Award.
