Classic Arts News Poncho Sanchez's Do It! Debuts on Billboard Jazz Chart Drummer and bandleader Poncho Sanchez's latest album debuted on the Billboard jazz chart this week at number 11.
The album, titled Do It!, includes guests appearances by the funk group Tower of Power and South African trumpeter Hugh Masekela.

Other new entries on the chart included drummer Will Calhoun's Native Lands at number 15 and vocalist Mary Stalling's Remember Love at number 23.

Vocalist Michael Bubl_'s It's Time topped the chart for the 26th week.

Pianist Brian Culbertson's It's On Tonight remained at number one in its third week on the contemporary-jazz chart. New to the chart were guitarist Bill Frisell's East West, a live album recorded on both coasts, at number six; Def Jazz, a compilation of jazz interpretations of hip-hop classics, at number nine; guitarist Earl Klugh's Naked Guitar at number 12; and saxophonist Tim Ries' The Rolling Stones project at number 17.
