The Muny in St. Louis, MO, continues its tradition of staging film inspired musicals with Roman Holiday, July 9-15, starring Broadway's Jeff McCarthy as Joe and Catherine Brunell as Princess Ann.

Muny executive producer Paul Blake adapted the screenplay of the Gregory Peck-Audrey Hepburn picture and interpolated Cole Porters songs, including "Easy to Love," "Begin the Beguine," "Just One of Those Things" and "Night and Day."

Jim Walton plays Irving Radovitch and Karen Morrow is Countess deLargo. The plot concerns a rebellious princess who escapes her handlers and goes out on the town — Rome. A reporter follows her, and falls for her. Brunell is on leave from Broadway's Les Miserables, where she plays Eponine, and McCarthy (Side Show) was recently the cop narrator of Off-Broadway's Urinetown, opening on Broadway in the fall.

The Muny has staged other exclusive adaptations of films and movies musicals, such as "White Christmas." The famed outdoor theatre begins its shows at 8:15 PM. For more information, call (314) 534-1111 or visit the website at www.muny.com.
