News   Pre-Broadway Ann, Created by and Starring "Two and a Half Men" Star Holland Taylor, Opens in Chicago
Emmy winner Holland Taylor, who is part of the cast of the much-in-the-news TV series "Two and a Half Men," stars in Ann, a one-woman play about the life of the late Texas Governor Ann Richards, which officially opens its three-week engagement at Chicago's Bank of America Theatre Nov. 16 following previews that began Nov. 13.

Billed as the "pre-Broadway engagement," performances will continue through Dec. 4. Taylor also wrote the play. Bob Boyett produces.

Directed by Benjamin Klein, the production also features scenic design by Michael Fagin, lighting design by Matthew Richards, projection design by Zachary Borovay, sound design by Ken Huncovsky and wig design by Paul Huntley

Ann, press note state, is an "inspiring and hilarious play that brings you face to face with a complex, colorful and captivating character bigger than the state from which she hailed. Holland Taylor takes the audience on a journey, swirling together the past and present to reunite Ann Richards with old friends and introduce her to a new generation."

Taylor spent three years "doing the extensive research that forms the basis of this play, crisscrossing the country interviewing people who knew the Governor of Texas, watching countless hours of video coverage, and, thanks to the University of Texas Archives, poring over reams of Richards’ personal and public papers. Taylor's greatest resources, however, were the family, friends, staff and colleagues of Governor Richards, who were unfailingly helpful, kind, and tolerant — and who allowed her to 'know' Ann Richards through them."

Tickets begin at $20. Bank of America Theatre is located in Chicago at 18 West Monroe Street. For more information, visit
