Alfred Preisser, co-founder and artistic director of the Classical Theatre of Harlem, stages his contemporary adaptation of Euripides' Trojan Women, which asks, "Are we somehow complicit in the disintegration and violence that is always happening somewhere else?"

"This radically re-imagined version of the Greek classic," production notes state, "featuring actual testimony from survivors of recent civil wars in Sierra Leone and Liberia, asks that very question. The play, set in 'the ruins of a great civilization' reminiscent of the wreckage of the original Penn Station, suggests that the intolerable human disaster that is always happening somewhere else is now happening here."

Preisser directs a cast that includes Zenzele Cooper, Michael Early, Christel Halliburton, Zainab Jah, Ty Jones, Linda Kurlioff, Amanda Marie, Lizan Mitchell, Sipiwe Moyo, Alexander Mulzac, Angela Polite, Brandi Rhonme, Sui-Lin Robinson, Kiat Sing Teo, Nabil Vilas and Tryphena Wade.

The design team for Trojan Women comprises Troy Hourie (set designer), Kimberly Glennon (costume designer) and Aaron Black (lighting designer) with original music by Kelvyn Bell (music director) and Tracy Jack (choreographer).
