Playwright Lee Blessing has adapted Wilder's 1935 novel about a religious convert traveling across America, which began performances April 24 and will run through May 17. Play House artistic director Michael Bloom directs a cast that features Halling (A Tale of Two Cities, In My Life, The Pajama Game) as George Brush, as well as Katie Barrett (In This Corner), Kailey Bell (Trip to Bountiful), Diane Dorsey (August: Osage County), Christian Kohn (Hollywood Arms), Courtney Anne Nelson (Solomon's Blade), Justin Tatum (A Little Night Music) and John Woodson (Medea).

Heaven's My Destination follows Brush (Halling), who is "a fervent religious convert determined to lead 'a good life.' A startlingly relevant tale of religion and tolerance with poignant and sometimes hilarious consequences, George's travels take him through smoking cars, bawdy houses, banks and campgrounds from Texas to Illinois — and into the soul of America," according to Play House notes.

Designing the production are Russell Parkman (scenic design), David Kay Mickelsen (costume design), Justin Townsend (lighting design), James C. Swonger (sound design) and Josh Schmidt (composer).

Wilder is the late Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright who penned such works as Our Town, The Matchmaker and The Skin of Our Teeth. Blessing, a Tony and Pulitzer Prize nominee, has written the plays Two Rooms, Eleemosynary, A Walk in the Woods and Cobb.
