According to a press statement, "The Fabulous Life of a Size Zero is a play in progress. There are technical elements to the show that needed to be addressed, and we are taking the necessary time to execute the best possible production. Patrons who have purchased tickets for June 14-16 will be refunded or rescheduled for a later date."
Directed by Joy's Ben Rimalower, the production will run through July 1. The cast includes Anna Chlumsky, Gillian Jacobs, Kate Reinders, Christopher Sloan and Brian J. Smith. DJ Brenda Black will also be featured onstage spinning the show's soundtrack.
The Fabulous Life of a Size Zero, according to press notes, "follows a girl in her senior year of high school as she attempts to achieve the ultimate: effortless perfection. Feeling the pressure of the forces around her, she shrinks to a size zero and descends into a filthy/gorgeous world of booze, beauty and boyfriends all while attempting to get into the Ivy League school of her choice. The tabloids, headlines and blogs of today explode onstage with humor, wit and brutal honesty as Size Zero proposes, 'How can a girl find herself if she is lost being someone else?'"
The design team includes Wilson Chin (set design), David Kaley (costume design) Ben Stanton (lighting design) Zach Williamson (sound design) and Ruth Lacera (projection design). Josh Walden is choreographer; Christie Evangelisto serves as Dramaturg.
Kate Reinders received a Joseph Jefferson Award nomination for Best Actress in a Principal Role—Musical for her performance in the Chicago mounting of Wicked. She also starred in the Broadway production of that Stephen Schwartz musical and has also been seen in Good Vibrations, Gypsy, Into the Woods and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Reinders' other theatrical credits include The Sound of Music, A Year with Frog and Toad and Nerds. The show is presented by Isaac Robert Hurwitz, Marissa Kamin, Ben Rimalower and Métropole Ink in association with Jossip.com.
Show times are Wednesday-Saturday at 8 PM and Tuesday and Sunday at 7 PM.
