Classic Arts News Principal Dancer Alexandra Ansanelli Leaves New York City Ballet Alexandra Ansanelli, a principal dancer with New York City Ballet since 2003, left the company at the end of its summer season last month, the New York Times reports.
Ansanelli told the Times that she wanted to dance classic story ballets, which are not emphasized at NYCB. She does not have another position lined up, but said she had "sent out feelers" to a company.

Ansanelli, 24, began studying at NYCB's School of American Ballet in 1990. She became an apprentice with the company in 1996, a member of the corps that same year, and a soloist in 1998, while still a teenager.
