Scott Morfee, a relative newcomer to the new York theatre scene, hopes to produce two shows Off-Broadway this fall, one a twisty mystery, the other a dark psychological drama. The first piece, Underneath the Lintel, is by Glen Berger and tells of a librarian who discovers that a book in the overnight-return slot is 123 years overdue. In Woman in Black fashion, the bibliophile rents a theatre to reconstruct what happened between two men underneath an archway.

According to Shirley Herz office spokespersons, Lintel will be staged by Randy White and star Brian T. Finney. It's due for an Off Broadway house sometime in September.

The other Morfee project is One Shot, One Kill, in which a venerable, decorated soldier tries to convince a talented young marine not to give up his war career. Joe Brancato is slated to direct Richard Vetere's drama, either Off or Off-Off-Broadway in October, at a venue to be announced. Vetere's other works include Gangster Apparel, Four Cops and The Engagement.

Producer Morfee was a marketing executive in New York before moving into theatrical production (Shout and Twist). He's also producing and directing the documentary "Visiting Mr. Wallach," a feature-length film about actor Eli Wallach (Visiting Mr. Green).
