The world premiere of the new musical can now be seen at the MusicalFare Theatre in Amherst, NY. Written and choreographed by Denman, Change Partners features direction by Randall Kramer and will play the New York theatre through Oct. 10. The cast also includes Terrie George, Michele Maier, Kelly Meg Brennan, Christian Donnelly, Kelly Cammarata and Matthew Clark.

The creative team comprises John Mitton (musical direction), Chris Schenk (set design), Chris Cavanagh (lighting and sound design) and Dorothy Collins (costume design).

Change Partners features a variety of dance styles, including tap, vaudeville, jazz and ballroom. The musical, according to production notes, "is a poignant look at 30 years in the career of America's most cherished dance icon" and brings to life not only Fred Astaire but his sister Adele, his wife Phyllis and legendary screen star — and Astaire's most famed dancing partner — Ginger Rogers. Though based on Astaire's life, the musical, said Denman, is "a fictional tale" of the dancer. "It is an imaginative and poignant look at this icon's life."

In addition to The Producers, Jeffry Denman has also appeared on Broadway in Cats, Dream and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. He is the author of "A Year with The Producers: One Actor's Exhausting But Worth It Journey from Cats to Mel Brooks' Mega Hit." Denman will play Astaire through Sept. 19; John Fredo assumes the role Sept. 22-Oct. 10.

Change Partners plays Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7:30 PM, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 PM with matinees Saturdays at 4 PM and Sundays at 2 PM. Tickets, priced $25-$30, are available by calling (716) 839-8540. MusicalFare Theatre is located at 4380 Main Street in Amherst, NY.
