News Producers' Brad Oscar to Receive Arts Stars Award Brad Oscar, who recently played Max Bialystock in the Tony-winning musical The Producers, will be honored at the Second Annual Arts Stars Awards Oct. 27.

The evening, which honors successful Washington, D.C. artists and Montgomery College students, will be held at the AFI Silver Theatre in Silver Spring, MD from 6:30-9:30 PM. Oscar, whose Broadway resume also includes Aspects of Love and Jekyll & Hyde, spent his early days acting in Montgomery College's Summer Dinner Theatre.

The evening will also honor Bonnie Fogel, founder and executive director of Imagination Stage, Inc.; Eliot Pfanstiehl, president and CEO of Strathmore Hall Foundation, Inc.; Eduardo Sanchez, a filmmaker, director, and Montgomery College alumnus who directed "The Blair Witch Project"; and Jerry Whiddon, producing artistic director emeritus at the Round House Theatre.

In addition to the presentation of the awards, entertainment will be provided by Montgomery College students, faculty and staff.

Brad Oscar created the role of Franz Liebkind in the Broadway production of The Producers, earning a Tony Award nomination for his performance. He later succeeded Nathan Lane in the role of Max Bialystock, playing that part in the show's national tour and on Broadway. Oscar made his Broadway debut in Aspects of Love and also appeared in Jekyll & Hyde, Forbidden Broadway, the City Center Encores! production of Do Re Mi and The Radio City Christmas Spectacular.
