Grant will play newswoman Diane Sawyer in the adaptation of Peter Morgan's play, which is currently playing Broadway's Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre. Sawyer, who worked as a press aide in the Nixon administration, helped the former President pen his memoirs following his resignation. The ABC personality was also present during the taping of the Frost/Nixon interviews.

As previously announced, stage stars Frank Langella and Michael Sheen will repeat their roles, as respectively, President Richard M. Nixon and David Frost on screen. The cast also includes Sam Rockwell, Toby Jones and Matthew Macfadyen. Rockwell will play journalist James Reston Jr., Jones will portray dealmaker Swifty Lazar and Macfadyen will be British journalist John Birt. And, Kevin Bacon will play Jack Brennan, President Richard M. Nixon's chief of staff.

Howard is directing the film for Working Title Films and Universal Pictures.

According to press notes for the Broadway production, "Frost/Nixon tackles the question: How did David Frost, a famous British talk-show host with a playboy reputation, elicit the apology that the rest of the world was waiting to hear from former President Richard Nixon? The fast-paced new play shows the determination, conviction and cunning of two men as they square off in one of the most monumental political interviews of all time."

Frost/Nixon earned three Olivier Award nominations, including Best New Play. British Sheen and American Langella were also Olivier-nominated (separately) in the category of Best Actor. Langella recently won a Tony Award for his performance in the Broadway production. Kate Jennings Grant has been seen on Broadway in Proof and An American Daughter and Off-Broadway in Between Us, Radiant Baby and The Beard of Avon. Her film credits include "United 93," "When a Stranger Calls," "Kinsey" and the upcoming thriller "Blackout." TV credits include "Commander in Chief," "3 lbs" and "Law and Order."
