News   Public Announces Post-Show Talks for Knives and Other Sharp Objects
A series of post-performance discussions have been announced for the Public LAB presentation of Raúl Castillo's Knives and Other Sharp Objects.

Running through April 19, Castillo's Texas-set work begins "when two Latina sisters are shipped off to live with their more well-heeled family. A poignant story of family, coming of age, and the meaning of home."

The March 31 discussion, including Castillo, cast member Michael Ray Escamilla and playwright Mario Bosquez, will focus on "The Influence of Border Culture and Familial Expectations in Shaping a Mexican-American Identity."

On April 7, Castillo will be joined by director Felix Solis and cast members of Knives to discuss the Public LAB presentation.

The final discussion, to be held on April 14, will include Castillo, Solis and playwrights Migdalia Cruz and Andrea Thome; the discussion is titled "Bringing the Latino Experience to the Stage: Latino Artists In Conversation."

The complete cast of Knives includes David Anzuelo ("Law & Order: SVU"), Candy Buckley (Bernarda Alba), Paul Calderon (Two Sisters and a Piano), Noemi Del Rio (In The Heights), Michael Ray Escamilla (Election Day), Ana Nogueira (Goodtime Charley), Amanda Perez (The Little Dog Laughed), Joselin Reyes (A Winter Party), Angelo Rosso (Killing/Play) and Ed Vassallo (Havana is Waiting). A collaboration between the Public and LAByrinth Theater Company, the Public LAB offers theatregoers the opportunity to witness developing work from emerging and established playwrights. The swiftly rehearsed, stripped-down presentations are presented for only $10.
