News Public LAB Sets Talkbacks for Jonathan Marc Sherman's Knickerbocker The Public Theater will host two post-performance talkbacks in association with the world premiere of Jonathan Marc Sherman's Knickerbocker, a new play about becoming a father, which will run through May 29.

The first event, "Naptime in the City That Never Sleeps: A Conversation About Parenting in New York," will take place May 17 at 7 PM. Guests include Lisa Belkin, Lenore Skenazy and Steven Mintz. Playwright Sherman will join Jocelyn Prince and Alan Berliner for "Childhood Memories and Grown-Up Dreams" May 24 at 7 PM.

Pippin Parker directs the Public LAB production, which will officially open May 19. Knickerbocker is the final production in the 2010-2011 Public LAB season.

The cast features Alexander Chaplin ("Spin City," The Petrified Prince), Mia Barron (The Coast of Utopia), Ben Shenkman (Proof, Sight Unseen), Bob Dishy (Sly Fox, Morning's at Seven), Christina Kirk (Well, Clybourne Park) and Zak Orth ("Romeo + Juliet," Major Barbara).

Here's how the Public bills the play: "'Are you ready?' Jerry confronts this question from the womb of his favorite restaurant booth while the months pass by and the son he and his wife Pauline are expecting grows from the size of a peach to the size of...a baby. As the due date approaches, can friends and family members help Jerry feel prepared, or just feel worse, like some un-anonymous sperm donor terrified of making the transition from being the son of a father to being the father of a son?"

The production has scenic design by Peter Ksander, costume design by Gabriel Berry, lighting design by Jeff Croiter and projection design by Shawn Duan. Sherman's plays include Things We Want, Sophistry, Veins & Thumbtacks, Evolution, Sons & Fathers, Jesus on the Oil Tank, Serendipity & Serenity, Wonderful Time and Women & Wallace.

For tickets, priced $15, phone (212) 967-7555 or visit PublicTheater.

The Public Theater is located at 425 Lafayette Street in Manhattan.
