Tony Award-winning August: Osage County director Anna Shapiro directed a mid-November reading of the new play, which was commissioned by Lincoln Center Theater. A representative for LCT said Domesticated would play its Off-Broadway house, the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater, next season.
Bill Pullman and Laurie Metcalf lead the cast of the reading that also featured Emily Meade, Jade Barnett-Irons, Annie Parisse, Betsy Aidem, Mary Beth Peil, Tracee Chimo, Maria Elena Ramirez, Donnetta Lavinia Grays and Javier Munoz.
Norris' Clybourne Park, which premiered at Playwrights Horizons in 2010, is aiming for a Broadway arrival in spring 2012. The production will play the Center Theatre Group in Los Angeles this January under the direction of Pam MacKinnon prior to its New York return.
Norris' works also include The Infidel (2000), Purple Heart (2002), We All Went Down to Amsterdam (2003 – Joseph Jefferson Award for Best New Work), The Pain and the Itch (2004 – Jefferson Award) and The Unmentionables (2006), all of which premiered at Steppenwolf Theatre. His work has also been produced at Lookingglass Theatre, Philadelphia Theatre Company, Woolly Mammoth Theatre (Washington, DC), The Royal Court Theatre (London) and The Staatstheater Mainz (Germany). He is the recipient of the 2009 Steinberg Playwright Award, the Whiting Foundation Prize for Drama, and the Kesselring Prize, Honorable Mention.
