News Raúl Esparza Will Join Hamish Linklater and Lily Rabe in Shakespeare in the Park Cymbeline The Public Theater has announced further casting for its Shakespeare in the Park staging of Cymbeline, starring previously announced Hamish Linklater (Seminar) and Lily Rabe. Multi-Tony nominee Raúl Esparza will play Iachimo, and Broadway vet Patrick Page has been cast in the title role.

Complete casting for Cymbeline also features Teagle F. Bougere as Caius Lucius, Cornelius; Kate Burton as Queen, Belarius; David Furr as Guidarius, First Lord; Jacob Ming-Trent as Aviragus, First Gentleman; and Steven Skybell as Pisanio, Gaoler, Frenchman. Linklater and Rabe both return following last year's Shakespeare in the Park staging of Much Ado About Nothing. 

The production will be helmed by Tony winner Daniel Sullivan (Merchant of Venice, Proof, Rabbit Hole), who also returns to the Delacorte following last summer's production of King Lear. The show is set to play July 23-Aug. 23, with an official opening night on Aug. 10.

Cymbeline is a Shakespearean fairy tale featuring cross-dressing girls and cross-dressing boys, poisons and swordfights. Princess Imogen's fidelity is put to the test when her disapproving father banishes her soul mate.

Scenic design is by Riccardo Hernandez with costume design by David Zinn, lighting design by David Lander, sound design by Acme Sound Partners, original music by Tom Kitt and choreography by Mimi Lieber.


The 53rd season of Shakespeare in the Park kicks off May 27 with The Tempest, starring Academy Award nominee Sam Waterston ("The Newsroom," King Lear, Hamlet), marking his 13th Shakespearean role at the Public. The Tempest is directed by Tony nominee Michael Greif (If/Then, Next to Normal, Rent) and plays through July 5 at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. An official opening night is slated for June 16.

The cast also includes Whitney Bashor, Louis Cancelmi, Francesca Carpanini, Nicholas Christopher, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Olga Karmansky, Tamika Lawrence, Danny Mastrogiorgio, Charles Parnell, Chris Perfetti, Rodney Richardson, Cotter Smith and Bernard White. The ensemble includes Jordan Barrow, Chloe Fox, Thomas Gibbons, Sunny Hitt, Brandon Kalm, Rico Lebron, Suki Lopez, and Matthew Oaks.

The Public continues its 53-year tradition of offering free theatre in Central Park. Tickets are distributed, two per person, at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park on the day of the show. The Public Theater will again offer free tickets through a Virtual Ticketing lottery on the day of the show at shakespeareinthepark.org.

The Delacorte Theater in Central Park is accessible by entering at 81st St. and Central Park West or at 79th St. and Fifth Ave.
