The work previously announced for a Sept. 16 start at The Culture Project's 45 Bleecker Street Theatre, but will move to the new venue and begin previews Sept. 21. The Oct. 7 opening remains the same. David Schweizer — who recently staged Charles L. Mee's comedy Wintertime Off-Broadway — will direct.
White Chocolate centers on Brandon and Deborah Beale, a married and affluent couple living on New York City's Upper West Side who are readying themselves for the announcement of the husband's appointment as director of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. However, things don't go exactly as planned as the white couple awake to find their skin color has changed.
Playwright Hamilton has written for The Atlantic Monthly, Harper's Magazine and The New York Times Sunday Magazine and Gourmet in addition to his duties at the New Yorker.
The Culture Project and Allan Buchman will produce the work.
