News Ragtime Roars Into London’s Piccadilly March 19 Maria Friedman stars in Ragtime — the musical about life and love in early-twentieth century America — at the Piccadilly Theatre, which has its official opening March 19.

Adapted from E. L. Doctorow's novel by award-winning playwright Terrence McNally (who recently adapted the film The Full Monty as a stage musical), this musical focuses on the lives of three families to tell the wider story of the vast social changes that took place in America during this period. Set against the Ragtime sound that swept the Western world (Scott Joplin remains the best known composer of this period), Ragtime is a major musical event. The score was composed by Once On This Island’s Stephen Flaherty (music) and Lynn Ahrens (lyrics). They were represented Off-Broadway this season with A Man of No Importance.

Dave Willetts and Graham Bickley are also among the cast at the Piccadilly, which is located at Denman Street in London.
