In the spirit of community that permeates the musical, Ragtime, members of the Boston company of the Tony Award-winning musical will perform an intimate cabaret, "Journey On," 7:30 PM March 8 at The Lyric Stage, 140 Clarendon Street, Boston.
Created specifically as a one-night-only event to benefit Community Servings, a meal delivery service for individuals and families touched by AIDS, the evening will feature selections from Broadway, jazz, gospel and dance.
Dede Ketover, Executive Director of Community Servings said, "We are extremely grateful to this extraordinary group of talented performers. They have sacrificed their only night off to help raise money for our programs."
The troupe's generosity extends beyond this special performance. Next week, Ragtime performers will lend a hand at the Community Servings' kitchen in Roxbury, preparing meals for AIDS patients throughout Boston.
Ragtime, the Tony Award-winning musical based on E. L. Doctorow's classic novel, continues to March 28 at Boston's Colonial Theatre. The tour will close there and elements from the set and cast will be recycled into a ne national; tour beginning August 1999 in Houston. Tickets for the cabaret, "Journey On," are $40.
