The cast at the Marquis Theatre will celebrate the milestone with an apple cider toast before the show — no real champagne; that might risk onstage drowsiness.

The musical about a show-tune fan whose favorite musical comes to life in his stuffy studio apartment features Tony Award winner John Glover as Man in Chair, Danny Burstein, Troy Britton Johnson, Garth Kravits, Jason Kravits, Janine LaManna, Tony Award winner Beth Leavel (as The Drowsy Chaperone), Kecia Lewis-Evans, Jennifer Smith, Gerry Vichi, Patrick Wetzel, JoAnne Worley, Andrea Chamberlain, Jay Douglas, Stacia Fernandez, Linda Gabler, Kilty Reidy, Joey Sorge and Joanna Young.

The Drowsy Chaperone, an original new musical comedy not based on source material, is directed and choreographed by Tony Award nominee Casey Nicholaw (Spamalot), with music and lyrics by Tony Award winners Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison and a book by Tony Award winners Bob Martin and Don McKellar.

The musical, currently playing in London, as well, and poised to launch a North American tour this fall, received 2006 New York Drama Critics' Circle and Drama Desk Awards for Best Musical and five Tony Awards, including Book (Bob Martin and Don McKellar), Original Score (Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison), Featured Actress (Beth Leavel), Costume Design (Gregg Barnes) and Scenic Design (David Gallo).

"To chase his blues away, a modern day musical theatre addict known simply as 'Man in Chair' (Glover) drops the needle on his favorite LP — the 1928 musical comedy The Drowsy Chaperone. From the crackle of his hi-fi, the musical magically bursts to life on stage, telling the tale of a pampered Broadway starlet (LaManna) who wants to give up show business to get married, her producer (Vichi) who sets out to sabotage the nuptials, her chaperone (Leavel), the debonair groom (Johnson), the dizzy chorine (Smith), the Latin lover (Burstein) and a pair of gangsters who double as pastry chefs (Garth and Jason Kravits). Man in Chair's love of The Drowsy Chaperone speaks to anyone who has ever been transported by the theatre." The Drowsy Chaperone is produced by Kevin McCollum, Roy Miller, Boyett Ostar, Stephanie McClelland, Barbara Freitag and Jill Furman.
