News Raising Hell: Evil Dead: The Musical Reaches 100 Shows Off-Broadway Off-Broadway's comedy Evil Dead: The Musical will reach 100 performances at the New World Stages Jan. 26.

Jenkay LLC, Jeffrey Latimer Entertainment and Just For Laughs Live present the "killer musical," which began previews Oct. 2 and opened Off-Broadway Nov. 1. The work hits its 100th performance at the 11 PM performance.

In other Dead news, cast members from the show will take part in a discussion about their experience in the Off-Broadway musical for a Makor event Jan. 28 at 7 PM in the Steinhardt Building (35 West 67th St.). Tickets and info are available at 92Y.org.

The cast went into the studio Dec. 17 to record the original cast album on the Time Life label. A release date will be announced.

"Evil Dead: The Musical unearths the old familiar story," reveals a press release, "[where] boy and friends take a weekend getaway at abandoned cabin, boy expects to get lucky, boy unleashes ancient evil spirit, friends turn into Candarian Demons, boy fights until dawn to survive."

Christopher Bond and Tony Award winner Hinton Battle ("Dreamgirls," "Idlewild") directed the work, which features a book and lyrics by George Reinblatt, music by Frank Cipolla, Bond, Melissa Morris and Reinblatt with music supervision by Cipolla. The cast includes Ryan Ward (as Ash), Jennifer Byrne (Linda), Jenna Coker (Cheryl), Renée Klapmeyer (Annie/ Shelly), Tom Walker (Ed/ Moose), Brandon Wardell (Scott), Ryan Williams (Fake Shemp) and Darryl Winslow (Jake).

The design team features David Gallo (set), Cynthia Nordstrom (costumes), Jason Lyons (lighting) with Peter Fitzgerald and Kevin Lacy (sound) and Louis Zakarian (makeup and special effects).
