Ralph Fiennes, who manages the difficult task of being a major film star ("Schindler's List," "The English Patient") and a leading figure in British Theatre (Hamlet, Ivanov, Richard II), is to star as psychiatrist Carl Jung in Christopher Hampton's Talking Cure at the National in Dec.
Fiennes will be directed by Howard Davies (who is also to direct Dames Judi Dench and Maggie Smith in The Breath of Life at the Haymarket in Oct.) in a play that examines Jung's relationship with his mentor, Sigmund Freud, and with a young woman patient.
Talking Cure begins previews at the Cottesloe at the National on Dec. 6, and opens on Dec. 12.
