Ralph Waite and Marian Mercer are the stars of D.L. Coburn's The Gin Game, which opens Nov. 5 at La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts for a two-week run. Produced by McCoy Rigby Entertainment, the play is directed by Jules Aaron.
The Gin Game was first produced in New York in 1977, starring Hume Cronyn and Jessica Tandy. The National Actors Theatre touring production with Julie Harris and Charles Durning visited southern California last season.
Coburn has revised the play utilizing changes from the NAT production. The new script contains an additional scene and small line changes.
Waite is best known for his work on the 10-year TV run of "The Waltons." He has gone on to develop, produce and star in the series "The Mississippi" and in the MOW "A Good Sport" with Lee Remick. Mercer's Broadway credits include her Tony Award-winning performance in Promises, Promises. She was seen last year in The Boys From Syracuse at Freud Playhouse, UCLA.
