Everyman Theatre in Baltimore, MD has announced a 2016-2017 season that includes Dot, a play written by Broadway actor-playwright Colman Domingo, and what is described as a “re-imagining” of Michael John LaChiusa and Ellen Fitzhugh’s 2012 musical, Los Otros.

Also on the schedule is Jen Silverman’s comedy The Roommate, plus three classics—an adaptation of Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations by Gale Childs Daly, the thriller Wait Until Dark written by Frederick Knott and adapted by Jeffrey Hatcher, and the backstage comedy Noises Off by Michael Frayn, which was revived on Broadway earlier this season.

Los Otros, running from March 22, 2017 to April 23, was originally presented in 2012 at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles. Everyman commissioned a complete rethinking of the piece by Tony Award nominees Michael John LaChiusa (The Wild Party, First Daughter Suite) and Ellen Fitzhugh (Grind, Herringbone) which will be directed by Noah Himmelstein (An Inspector Calls/I Am Harvey Milk). The stories of Lillian and Carlos unfold through the different stages of their lives in what is described as an “unusual kind of musical where they rise to face the preconceptions of what it means to be ‘The Other.’ With music that marks the decades, these Californians, one white and one Latino, forge the unlikely linking of their two lives.”

Dot, the new play from playwright/actor Colman Domingo (The Scottsboro Boys) recently played Off-Broadway at the Vineyard Theatre. Production notes say, “Dotty and her three adult children are home for the holidays in their West Philly community, but this year there is more than presents and yuletide on their mind. Dotty fights to maintain a grasp on her fading memory, while her kids wrestle with the challenge of caring for their aging parent. Brother and sister collide in a riotous and raw familial brawl where losing your mind and losing your sanity are two different things.” It’s schedule to run December 7, 2016, through January 8, 2017.
