The Verdict Read Reviews for Disney’s The Lion King Live-Action Remake Beyoncé, Donald Glover, James Earl Jones, and Chiwetel Ejiofor lend their voices to the new take on the 1994 animated blockbuster.

Disney’s CGI live-action remake of its 1994 animated hit The Lion King arrives in theatres July 19 with an all-star cast led by Donald Glover as Simba, James Earl Jones (reprising his voice performance from the animated original) as Mufasa, Beyoncé as Nala, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, John Kani as Rafiki, John Oliver as Zazu, Billy Eichner as Timon, and Seth Rogen as Pumbaa.

Jon Favreau directs the movie that incorporates songs from the animated original, including Elton John and Tim Rice’s Oscar-winning “Can You Feel the Love Tonight?,” “Circle of Life,” “Hakuna Matata,” and “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King,” as well as “He Lives in You,” from the long-running Broadway production. The remake also features new musical material, including the song “Never Too Late,” and "Spirit" a new song from Beyoncé's forthcoming companion album to the film.
