News   Real Men Wear Pink and Sing Showtunes Presented Nov. 6
Real Men Wear Pink and Sing Showtunes, billed as a "cabaret celebrating life, love, reflection and manliness," plays the Duplex in Manhattan Nov. 6.

The 9:30 PM concert, featuring the songs of Cole Porter, Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim, Alan Menken, Jonathan Larson, Duncan Sheik, David Yazbek and Jule Styne, benefits Theatrical Gems.

Conceived by Theatrical Gems artist-in-residence Jonathan G. Galvez, the evening, according to press notes, "weaves together songs from musicals spanning a century. This rare evening of classics and contemporary favorites takes a look at the lives of five men as they deal with youth, life, and love all through musical theatre...and all while wearing pink." Attendees can expect songs from West Side Story, Spring Awakening, Spamalot, Diamonds, Damn Yankees, The Full Monty, She Loves Me, Beauty and the Beast, Fame and Whoop-Dee-Doo.

Galvez is featured in a cast that also includes Theatrical Gems artistic director Jacob Shoesmith-Fox, Michael Puglia, Michal Salonia and Tom Waltz, with musical direction by Steven H. Taylor.

The Duplex Cabaret Theatre is located at 61 Christopher Street. Tickets are $15 plus a two-drink minimum and can be reserved online at or by calling (212) 255-5438. Tickets will be picked up at the door.
