News Rebecca Luker to Star in Carousel in Concert Sept. 25 Rebecca Luker, most recently on Broadway in the Tony-winning revival of Nine, will return to her native Alabama for a concert version of Carousel this September.

Luker will join George Dvorsky for a concert of the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic Sept. 25 at the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Center Concert Hall. Backed by the Alabama Symphony Orchestra, the Christopher Confessore-directed evening will also feature the Alabama Ballet. Show time is 8 PM.

Rebecca Luker starred opposite Craig Bierko in the acclaimed revival of The Music Man, garnering Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award nominations for her role as Marian. Luker also appeared with Michael Cerveris and Judy Kuhn in the Kennedy Center production of Stephen Sondheim's Passion, and her other theatrical credits include roles in Nine, The Sound of Music, Show Boat, The Secret Garden and The Phantom of the Opera.

George Dvorsky was featured in the Broadway casts of The Scarlet Pimpernel, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Passion and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas and has appeared in the North Shore Music Theatre's production of A Christmas Carol for over a decade.

Carousel bowed on Broadway in April 1945 at the Majestic Theatre, where it played 890 performances. The celebrated score includes such tunes as "June Is Bustin' Out All Over," "Mister Snow," "Soliloquy," "What's the Use of Wond'rin'?" and "You'll Never Walk Alone."
