Theresa Rebeck's prophetic Washington comedy A View of the Dome will have its West Coast premiere Sept. 16 at the Egyptian Arena Theatre in Hollywood, running through Oct. 22. A few weeks before Monica Lewinsky was even a blip on the world's radar screen, Rebeck's play about a politician's tawdry sex scandal with a low-level campaign worker premiered in Chicago.
"I got trashed in the New York Times," said Rebeck. "Like, this could never happen, like the story was so disgusting." Relishing her prophetic vindication, she added, "A friend of mine said that I'm the Cassandra of American theatre."
View of the Dome is Theatre Neo's first full-length production. Comprised of a group of actors, writers and directors, Theatre Neo made its local reputation doing bills of one-act plays.
Egyptian Arena Theatre is located at 1625 N. Las Palmas Ave. For tickets and information call (323) 769-5858.
