Classic Arts News Ren_e Fleming Plans Three Book Appearances in December Soprano Ren_e Fleming makes three appearances next month in support of her new memoir, according to her publisher.
Fleming will be interviewed about The Inner Voice at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., on December 7 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 and are available through the cathedral's web site.

On December 9, Fleming will sign copies of the book at a free event at the Metropolitan Opera Shop at Lincoln Center at 12:30 p.m. And on December 12, the soprano will appear at a free book signing in the Grand Foyer of the Kennedy Center at 6 p.m. This event is presented by Politics and Prose, a Washington bookstore and coffee shop.

The Inner Voice, which came out last month, includes stories about Fleming's career as well as her thoughts on such issues as arts education and music downloading.

Fleming made her Metropolitan Opera debut in 1991 as the Countess in Le nozze di Figaro and has returned there many times. Among her other signature roles are Desdemona in Verdi's Otello, Amelia in Simon Boccanegra, and the Marschallin in Der Rosenkavalier. She appeared in the world premieres of John Corigliano's The Ghosts of Versailles, Conrad Susa's Dangerous Liaisons, and Andr_ Previn's A Streetcar Named Desire.
