News Rent and La Boheme, Staged in Repertory, Begin Ohio Run Feb. 15 Jonathan Larson's Tony Award-winning musical Rent will be performed in repertory with La Bohème, the Giacomo Puccini opera that inspired it, Feb. 15-27 at The Baldwin-Wallace College Conservatory of Music's Kleist Art & Drama Center in Berea, OH.

Baldwin-Wallace music theatre program director Victoria Bussert directs both productions, with student Ryan Garrett serving as music director for Rent.  

Constantine Kitsopoulos, who music directed A Catered Affair on Broadway and serves as the music director of the Queens Symphony Orchestra and general director of Chatham Opera, is the guest conductor for La Boheme.  

The creative team includes faculty members Greg Daniels as choreographer, Jeff Herrman as set designer and Charlotte Yetman as costume designer.

The productions will be performed on a single set design, with La Bohème set in the 1930s and Rent in the present day. The productions emphasize the musical and dramatic connections between the musical and the opera.

Rent and La Bohème will alternate on weeknights at 7:30 PM. Both shows will be performed on the weekends, one at 2 PM and the other at 7:30 PM. The Kleist Art and Drama Center is located at 95 East Bagley Road in Berea. For tickets, call (440) 826-2240 or visit bw.edu.
