The movie and book series "Twilight" has over 4.1 mllion fans and that other blood-sucking franchise, "True Blood," boasts over 900,000 fans. Mashable has also nominated the Spring Awakening YouTube channel in a separate category.

Allied Live created the Rent Facebook fan page that includes updated editorial content from regular media coverage of the national tour, as well as behind the scenes cast videos, promotions and giveaways.

"This is an outstanding accomplishment for Rent," said David Risley, VP of Allied Live's Internet Division. "While Rent has more than 58,000 fans, more than any other Broadway or touring show, it is still far fewer than our major mass entertainment competitors. It is incredible to be on this list of nominees. This recognition really demonstrates our ability to push beyond the traditional expectations for social networking of Broadway shows."
