News Rent's Martin to Depart TV's "Law & Order" Jesse L. Martin, who created the role of Tom Collins in the original Broadway production of Rent, will leave his role on the NBC drama "Law & Order" later this season.

Variety reports that Martin, who also played Collins in the "Rent" film, is expected to film one more episode as Detective Ed Green before departing the series. Martin has been with the long-running show since 1999.

The industry paper also reports that Martin will likely be replaced by "K-Ville" actor Anthony Anderson.

It was previously announced that stage and screen actor Martin will star in the upcoming independent Marvin Gaye biopic "Sexual Healing." Filming is scheduled to begin April 15 on location in Massachusetts, Ostend, Belgium and Los Angeles.

James Gandolfini will play Gaye's manager, Freddy Cousaert, opposite Martin as the legendary soul singer. The film will focus on the singer's final years — from his self-imposed exile to Europe after struggling with drug problems and label disputes with Motown through to his 1984 death at the hands of his father.

Jesse L. Martin's theatre credits also include the Broadway productions of Timon of Athens and The Government Inspector.
