Eve Ensler has her eyes on Broadway in 2004.

The Vagina Monologues' scribe and chief performer told the San Francisco Examiner July 23 that she hopes to bring her latest one-woman show, The Good Body to the Great White Way for the next Tony season.

The Good Body is about the world-wide effort by women to make themselves beautiful, according to the dictates of their culture. Ensler interviewed women from over 30 countries to discover how they mutilate and manipulate their bodies, from Western liposuction and Botox parties to the brass rings of Thailand's long-necked Padong people and the hijab (headscarf) of the Muslim world.

Ensler told the Examiner, "After I came to love my vagina, I started to despise my stomach. And I thought, 'As a feminist, how can I spend so many hours hating my stomach?' My journey is about coming to love my stomach. I wish I could say I was completely successful."

Random House will release the book version of Body, as they have with Ensler's Monologues and Necessary Targets. Ensler is also the author of the plays Lemonade, The Depot, Floating Rhoda and the Glue Man, Extraordinary Measures, Ladies and Scooncat.
