News Reprise Theatre Company Cancels Production of Stephen Schwartz's The Baker's Wife Reprise Theatre Company announced Nov. 29 that it has canceled its upcoming production of Stephen Schwartz and Joseph Stein's The Baker’s Wife, which was scheduled to run Feb. 14-26, the second show of the 2011-2012 season, in Los Angeles.

Reprise managing director Christine Bernardi Weil said in a statement, “Despite outstanding critical and audience response to our recent productions, our projected income – ticket sales and donations – has not been enough to allow us to produce The Baker’s Wife. Cancelling the production, and providing a refund to our ticket holders, is the most responsible way for us to solve the situation and ensure that we can continue with the rest of the season and beyond.”

Subscribers and other tickets holders are currently being contacted to arrange refunds or donate The Baker’s Wife portion of season tickets.

The Apple Tree, the third show of the season, will be performed April 17-29 as originally announced.

Reprise is also launching a fundraising campaign, which will include a continuation of its single night concert series, to help offset the loss of patrons and donors from the economy.
