2000 Obie winner Reverend Billy is looking back on his Church of Stop Shopping in a special lecture June 21 at the New School. In this setting, the Reverend will review recent projects taken on by the Church.
These have included the Starbucks assault Starbucks Out of Hell's Kitchen, the famous Disney Store tirades and events at the Brooklyn Museum, Esperanza Garden, RTMark and on streets and sidewalks across the city.
The Reverend promises he will remain "professor like, on the college's instructions, as long as possible. I will use a pointer." But, it is likely that a bit of preaching will get done -- so likely, that regular Church of Stop Shopping organist Brother Bill Henry will be waiting at 30 foot grand piano, ready to provide some gospel in case the preacher gets to pontificating.
Tickets are $5, free for students and faculty with ID. The Tishman Auditorium is located at the New School at 66 West 12th Street. For reservations, call (212) 229-5353.
