The Dallas production features a revised book penned by Good Boys and True playwright Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who is also a writer for such comic books as "Marvel Knights 4" and "Sensational Spider-Man." David Newman and Robert Benton penned the original book for the musical that has a score by Bye Bye Birdie writers Charles Strouse (music) and Lee Adams (lyrics).

DTC artistic director Kevin Moriarty directs Superman, which officially opens June 25 and will run through July 25 at the AT&T Performing Arts Center.

Matt Cavenaugh (West Side Story, A Catered Affair) stars in the title role with Patrick Cassidy (Blood Brothers, Assassins, "Louis and Clark") as the musical's villain, Max Mencken. Cassidy's father, Jack Cassidy, originated the role in the original 1966 Broadway production under the direction of Hal Prince.

Zakiya Young (The Little Mermaid) is cast as Lois Lane, with Cavenaugh's wife and Broadway actress Jenny Powers (Grease, Happiness, Little Women) as Clark Kent's other love interest, Sydney Sharp. Andrew Keenan-Bolger (Mary Poppins, Spelling Bee) plays Torchy.

Facing off against Menken’s bevy of super villains, Superman must defend his fair city while trying to win the heart of Lois Lane as the everyday Clark Kent."
