In a statement Springer said, "Bubble took Broadway, London, Berlin and Paris by storm when it made the rounds in the late ‘70s...Bubble is a timeless tribute to the likes of Ellington, Blake, Calloway and Holiday and evokes the elegance and excitement of the legendary Cotton Club, Small's Paradise and Savoy Ballroom.  It’s chock full of show-stopping numbers.  Who could ask for anything more?"

The revival will feature the original choreography of Billy Wilson and the original orchestrations of Danny Holgate. Michael Hulett will pen a new book. The original libretto was written by Loften Mitchell and based on a concept by Rosetta LeNoire.

Springer says he plans to tour the show before bringing it to Broadway in late fall or early winter of 2011.

Bubbling Brown Sugar, in the 1975-76 Broadway season, was Tony Award-nominated for Best Musical, Leading Actress in a Musical (for Vivian Reed) and Choreographer (Billy Wilson). A cast album preserved the troupe's work.

The Tony-nominated musical includes such songs as "Stompin' at the Savoy," "Take The 'A' Train," "Swing Low Sweet Chariot," "Sweet Georgia Brown," "It Don’t Mean A Thing" "Ain't Misbehavin'" and "Bubbling Brown Sugar!"
