The Museum of the City of New York presents a Richard Rodgers-themed exhibition from June 22, 2002 through Jan. 5, 2003.

Entitled "Richard Rodgers' Broadway," the centennial tribute will survey Rodgers' legacy, which boasts more than 900 songs and 41 Broadway musicals. The exhibition will examine Rodgers' collaboration with both Lorenz Hart and Oscar Hammerstein II, and items on display will include programs, photographs, sheet music, window cards and Broadway posters. Several personal items will be presented as well: gold cigarette lighters, gold pens, inlaid boxes, silver cocktail shakers, a conductor's baton, an autographed baseball and an array of achievement awards, including Rodgers' Tony Award for The King and I.

Several other programs will be part of the Museum's Rodgers retrospective. On June 26 at 7 PM, the Museum will present "Richard Rodgers Favorites & Rarities — Cabaret Night," an evening of song hosted by Kitty Carlisle Hart. Performers include Heather Mac Rae, KT Sullivan and theatre veteran Celeste Holm, who will offer "I Cain't Say No," the song she debuted in the original production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma! At 2 PM on June 29, the Museum will screen "Richard Rodgers — The Sweetest Sounds," Roger Sherman's profile, which was originally broadcast on WNET's American Masters series. And, at 2 PM on June 22, June 30, July 13 and July 27 Marty Jacobs, curator of the exhibition, will offer "Gallery Talks," an insider's view of the centennial celebration.
