News   Ring Round the Moon to Close Early in West End
The West End revival of Jean Anouilh's Ring Round the Moon that opened at the Playhouse Theatre on Feb. 19 — following previews from Feb. 5 — will close early.

Originally booking to May 24, the production will now shutter March 29. According to a press statement, "Despite positive reviews, ticket sales have not been sufficient to sustain the run and therefore the producers have made the difficult decision to close the show."

Directed by Sean Mathias (Les Parent Terribles, Bent, A Little Night Music), it stars JJ Feild, Belinda Lang, Leigh Lawson, Angela Thorne, Fiona Button and Elisabeth Dermot Walsh.

Set at a glamorous society dance in 1950s France, the play revolves around a pair of identical twins (both played by Field) who could not be more different, and the romances they respectively pursue.

Feild makes his West End debut in the play. He most recently appeared as Henry Tilney in ITV's adaptation of Jane Austen's "Northanger Abbey" and has three films set for release in 2008 – "O Jerusalem" with Ian Holm, "Goal 3" and Nick Moran's "Telstar" with Kevin Spacey and Pam Ferris.

Lang was last seen in the West End in Hay Fever opposite Judi Dench. Other theatre credits include What the Butler Saw, Private Lives, Dead Funny, Life X 3, The Secret Rapture and Alan Ayckbourn's The Things We Do for Love. She recently portrayed Christine Hamilton for the BBC's "Justice in Wonderland" and is well known for her starring roles in the series "2 Point 4 Children," "Second Thoughts" and "Dear John." Lawson was most recently seen on stage as Ralph Nickleby in the Chichester Festival Theatre production of Nicholas Nickleby. Other West End credits include Art and Old Times, and film credits include "Silence Becomes You," "Casanova" and "Tess."

Thorne is well known for TV roles in "To the Manor Born," "Foyle's War," "Three Up Two Down" and "Anyone for Dennis." Her theatre roles have included The Reporter, Quartet and Anyone for Dennis.

Walsh was recently seen in Jonathan Kent's production of The Country Wife at the Haymarket. Other credits include The Alchemist and The Life of Galileo at the National Theatre and the role of Mrs. de Winter in the recent tour of Rebecca.

Button was last seen in Tom Stoppard's Rock 'n' Roll at the Duke of York's Theatre.

Also in the cast are Emily Bruni, Joanna David, Andrew Havill and John Ramm.

Ring Round the Moon is running at the Playhouse Theatre, Northumberland Avenue, to March 29. For more information call the box office at 0870 060 6631.
