The Daily Mail reports that Lindsay (Me and My Girl, King Lear, Oliver!) will likely star as Henry II opposite Lumley (La Bête, "Absolutely Fabulous") as Eleanor of Aquitaine. Trevor Nunn (A Little Night Music, Les Miserables) will direct the play, which will follow The Tempest (also directed by Nunn) into the Theatre Royal Haymarket this November. The Lion in Winter has not been officially announced as part of the company's programming.
Set during the reign of Henry II of England, The Lion in Winter centers on a tempestuous family gathering.
The Lion in Winter is best known for the Academy Award-winning film adaptation, which starred Katharine Hepburn, Peter O'Toole, Anthony Hopkins and Timothy Dalton. The cast of the original Broadway production also boasted major star power, including Rosemarry Harris, Robert Preston, Christopher Walken and Hair creator James Rado.
