Ruth Williamson, recently seen in dual roles on Broadway in the Martin Short-Faith Prince revival of Little Me, will star in Edward Napier's The English Teachers at Off-Broadway's MCC Theater -- the company that produced this season's hit play, Wit. Directed by MCC executive director Robert LuPone, the production began previews April 7, opens April 21 and runs through May 1.

Williamson plays Ruthie, a husband-hungry resident of a small West Virginia hamlet, circa 1960. Other characters in the play include Victoria, who has ambitions to be elected to the State House of Delegates; Polly, whose ambition is directed toward New York; and Libby, whose ambitions concern Bobby.

Also in the cast are Alma Cuervo, Pat Nesbit, Sally Parrish, Amy Whitehouse and Michael Hall (replacing previously-announced Jeffrey Donovan). Designing the show are Rob Odorisio (set), Jon Luton (lighting), Bruce Ellman (sound) and Juliet Polsca (costumes).
