News Robert Sean Leonard Exits Fifth of July March 23; Cerveris Steps In March 25 Robert Sean Leonard, who helped make Fifth of July a sold-out hit for Off-Broadway's Signature Theatre Company, leaves the ensemble revival March 23 to concentrate on the forthcoming Broadway revival of Long Day's Journey Into Night.

The already-extended Fifth of July (now to April 6) welcomes Michael Cerveris in the role of thirtysomething Kenneth Talley Jr., the disabled Vietnam vet unable to make progress in his life.

Lanford Wilson's comic drama of '60s radicals reuniting in their Missouri hometown on the Fourth of July in 1977 is directed by Jo Bonney. Performances play the Peter Norton Space on West 42nd Street.

Fifth of July, part of Signature's season of Wilson plays, began previews Jan. 16. the cast includes Jessalyn Gilsig (June), Michael J. X. Gladis (Jed), David Harbour (John), Sarah Lord (Shirley), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Weston), Pamela Payton-Wright (Sally) and Parker Posey (Gwen).

Cerveris played Giorgio in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Passion for the Sondheim Celebration at the Kennedy Center in DC in 2002. He earned a Tony nomination, Theatre World and Grammy Award (original Cast Album) for his Broadway performance as Tommy in The Who's Tommy. He also starred in Titanic on Broadway.
