News Robin De Jesus and Lynne Wintersteller Will Lead the Children's Crusade in NYMF's Mother Jones The New York Musical Theatre Festival, Crystal Theatre and Benjamin Simpson will present Mother Jones and the Children's Crusade, a new musical inspired by the true story of the trailblazing labor organizer, July 17-24.

Featuring a book, music and lyrics by Cheryl E. Kemeny (co-founder of Crystal Theatre), Mother Jones will star Lynne Wintersteller (A Grand Night For Singing, Annie) and two-time Tony Award nominee Robin De Jesus (In the Heights, La Cage aux Folles).

Directed by Michelle Tattenbaum (Nobody Loves You) with choreography by Clare Cook and music direction by Micah Young, Mother Jones is an official selection of NYMF's Next Link Project.

Here's how the musical is billed: "Mother Jones won't quit and she won't stay quiet! It's the turn of the century and aging Mary Harris 'Mother' Jones is on a tireless crusade for justice as she leads ragged mill children on a march to end child labor. Inspiring, heartbreaking, and hopeful, this thrilling new musical following 'the most dangerous woman in America' will captivate audiences of all ages with its vibrant score blending period infused melodies with powerful contemporary anthems to deliver an uplifting message of human dignity that transcends time."

The cast also includes Frenie Acoba (Matilda), Tessa Grady (Annie), Lizzie Klemperer (A Christmas Story, The Addams Family), Lulu Lloyd, Marissa Miller (Wicked national tour), Zachary Mackiewicz (Mary Poppins), Johnny Marx, Grace Matwijec (White Christmas), Robert Mammana (Les Misérables) and Kevin Reed.

Other members of the creative team include scenic designer Scott Tedmon-Jones, costume designer Stephanie Levin, lighting designer Isabella F. Byrd and sound designer A and L Sound Partners. Performances will be offered at PTC Performance Space (555 West 42nd Street in New York) July 17 at 8 PM, July 19 at 1 PM, July 20 at noon, July 21 at 1 PM and July 24 at 9 PM.
