Classic Arts News Rolando Villaz‹n Disc Debuts at Number One on Billboard Chart Tenor Rolando Villaz‹n's Opera Recital, a collection of arias sung with the Munich Radio Symphony, debuted on the Billboard classical chart this week at number one.
The CD features arias by Puccini, Offenbach, Verdi, Tchaikovsky, Strauss, Donizetti, Bizet, and others; Michel Plasson is the conductor. It follows two successful recital discs by Villaz‹n focusing on French and Italian repertoire; his recording of La traviata with Anna Netrebko also recently appeared on the chart.

Cecilia Bartoli's Opera Proibita, which fell to number eight last week, rebounded to number two. Andr_ Rieu's The Flying Dutchman was at number three; Janine Jansen's recording of Vivaldi's The Four Seasons fell from number one to number four.

Also new to the chart was a recording of Mozart violin concertos by Julia Fischer and the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, at number 21; Yakov Kreizberg is the conductor.

Andrea Bocelli's Amore remained at the top of the classical-crossover chart for the second straight week. Il Divo's Ancora and Il Divo stayed at numbers two and three, respectively. There were no new entries.
