News Rosenblatt Asks What Am I Doing Here? at Flea Oct. 6-Nov. 19 Renowned journalist Roger Rosenblatt's latest foray into playwriting, Ashley Montana Goes Ashore in the Caicos...or What Am I Doing Here?, will have its New York premiere at the Flea Theatre Oct. 6-Nov. 19.

The show is called "a series of vignettes agout aging, angst, missed opportunities, New York, new age, the next big thing and the last hurrah." Jim Simpson directs. Mercedes Ruehl, Alan Alda, Matt McGrath and Gretchen Cleevly starred in a summer 2004 reading of the piece at the Southampton College Writers Conference.

Theatrewise, Rosenblatt is best known for his 1991 solo meditation, Free Speech in America, in which he also starred. Attendees of that show will remember that it concluded with the projection of a Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue cover photo which bore the caption, "Ashley Montana Goes Ashore in the Caicos." Rosenblatt used the photo as a springboard for the piece's final monologue.

As a journalist, Rosenblatt has long written for Time magazine, and has penned ten books.
