According to the New York Post, the reading of the new work — co-written by sportswriters Madden and Ira Berkow — featured Tony Award nominee Richard Kind (The Big Knife) as New York Yankees owner Steinbrenner and Patrick Page (A Time to Kill, Spider-Man) as Billy Martin.

Tony nominee Daniel Davis (Wrong Mountain, La Cage aux Folles) played Steinbrenner's father, Henry; theatre producer and friend, Jimmy Nederlander; and Fay Vincent, the commissioner of Major League Baseball.

Tony nominee Randal Myler (It Ain't Nothin' But the Blues) directed the reading, which was held last week.

Steinbrenner! charts Steinbrenner's purchase of the Yankees from CBS in 1973 until his death in 2010.

Steinbrenner was also a Broadway producer and has been part of the productions The Ninety Day Mistress; Applause; Not Now, Darling; Abelard and Heloise; Seesaw; and Legs Diamond. Visit his page at the Playbill Vault.
