Graham Rowat will play Nick in the Feb. 5 presentation of the musical at UCLA's Freud Playhouse. He joins the previously announced Faith Prince as Arlene, Alice Ripley as Pam, Christopher McDonald as Alan, Daniel Tatar as Danny and Kerry Butler as Lizzie. The ensemble will feature Sue Goodman, Alix Korey, Michael Kostroff, Amy Ryder and John Sloman. Show time is 8 PM.
Kevin Chamberlin will direct the one-night-only performance of the musical, which concerns three couples whose lives are affected in various ways by the prospect of having (or not having) a baby. Georgia Stitt is the musical director.
Graham Rowat has appeared on Broadway in Beauty and the Beast and Frank Wildhorn's Dracula. He also appeared in the national tour of Les Misérables and the Ford Theatre's production of 1776. An Ontario native, Rowat has also been seen at Canada's Shaw Festival. At the 2006 New York Musical Theatre Festival, he was featured in This Could Be Love. He was Bob Wallace in the Detroit and San Francisco engagements of Irving Berlin's White Christmas.
Baby, with a book by Sybile Pearson, played Broadway's Ethel Barrymore Theatre, Nov. 8, 1983-July 1, 1984. The original cast boasted Liz Callaway, Todd Graff, James Congdon, Martin Vidnovic, Beth Fowler and Catherine Cox. The Maltby/Shire score includes such tunes as "At Night She Comes Home to Me," "I Chose Right," "The Story Goes On," "Easier to Love," "Two People in Love," "With You," "I Want It All" and "And What If We Had Loved Like That."

The series of one-night-only performances will conclude May 14 with It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's Superman. Stuart Ross will direct Superman, which features a score by Charles Strouse (music) and Lee Adams (lyrics) and a book by David Newman and Robert Benton. The original Broadway production played 19 previews and 129 regular performances at the Alvin Theatre in 1966. The musical, according to press notes, is described thusly: "A reporter is out to uncover his identity, while another girl is trying to steal him away from Lois, and meanwhile, an evil mad scientist is trying to take over the world. What is Superman to do? With a little help from the Citizens of Metropolis, save the world, of course!"
