News Sally Anne Triplett Is London Chicago’s New Roxie She’s done Cole Porter, she’s done Victoria Wood, now Sally Ann Triplett will complete a musical hat-trick with some sheer stockings and songs by Kander and Ebb.

Triplett takes over the role of Roxie Hart from Frances Ruffelle on Sept. 12 (Ruffelle finishes Sept. 10). Triplett joins the cast at a time when most of the principals will have been refreshed. Former primary school teacher Matthew Goodgame, who — true to his surname — won a TV talent competition to play Billy Flynn for a one night performance in 2004 will return to take on the role between Aug. 30 and Sept. 3. From Sept. 5 he’ll be succeeded by Terence Maynard. Rachel Stanley will slot in as Velma between Aug. 30 and Sept. 24, before being replaced by Amra-Faye Wright from Sept. 26. On Sept. 12 Victor McGuire will take over as Amos Hart.

A large merry-go-round of leads have been in and out of this Olivier Award winning production, which is approaching its 8th year in the West End. It originally starred Ruthie Henshall, Ute Lemper, Henry Goodman and Nigel Planer. Actors appearing since then have included Brooke Shields, Sacha Distel, Denise Van Outen, Leigh Zimmerman, Clarke Peters, Alison Moyet, Maria Friedman and David Hasselhoff.
