Due to sell-out crowds and favorable reviews in the New York Times, the Daily News and the Village Voice, Samm-Art William's The Dance on Widows' Row, playing Off-Off Broadway, has been extended to July 30.

The play, which opened June 22 at Lower Manhattan's Harry De Jur Playhouse, stars Obie and AUDELCO winners Barbara Montgomery and Marie Thomas. Playwright Williams, who received a Tony and Drama Desk nomination and Outer Critics Circle Award for Home, also directs. Designing are Felix Cochren (sets), Shirley Prendergast (lighting) and Evelyn Nelson (costumes).

In Dance, four rich widows, who, between themselves have buried nine husbands, are throwing a party for four of the most eligible widowers and divorced men. With their "luck" with husbands, however, the street on which they live is considered jinxed, while the ladies themselves are suspected of murder.

Montgomery won an Obie and three AUDELCOs with Broadway appearances in The Tap Dance Kid, Kennedy's Children, Inacent Black, The First Breeze of Summer and Raisin. Joining her will be Elain Graham, Jack Landron, Elizabeth Van Dyke, Adam Wade and Ed Wheeler.

Topping off the cast is Thomas, who won her AUDELCO for her turn in Pam and was nominated for playing Josephine Baker in An Evening with Josephine Baker. When asked by Playbill On-Line® about the success of the show, the gracious Thomas said it's simply because the cast is enjoying themselves and invites everyone to "come and have a ball with us."
